History : |

In April 1957 the new VIP-Transportation Wing was activated at Nörvenich AFB. First it was only planed for VIP-Flights, but during the time the Wing was build up as a real Transport Wing. Already in July the new wing was moved to Köln-Wahn. The first aircraft of this wing were two D.H. 114 A Heron. In 1959, the LTG 62 was transferred to Köln-Bonn and the Flugbereitschaft BMVg was integrated as 3. Squadron. But in April 1963 the LTG 62 was moved again, this time to Ahlhorn AFB. With these changes the Flugbereitschaft was again activated and build up as a regular Wing. The Flugbereitschaft has, beneath the WTD 61, the most different aircraft types of all German Air Force Wings. |
