Air Transport Wing 65
TG 44 LTG 65
TG 44 LTG 65

History :

The LTG 65 was formed in 1991 at Neuhardenberg AFB to manage the reorganisation of the former NVA Transport Units.

5 Airbases with the following units were integrated in LTG 65 :
- TG 44 at Neuhardenberg with Tu-134 A, Tu-154 M and Mil Mi-8
- 4./TG 44 at Berlin-Schönefeld with Il-62 M
- THG 34 at Brandenburg/Briest with Mil Mi-2 and Mil Mi-8
- HAG 35 at Brandenburg/Briest with Mil Mi-2 and Mil Mi-8
- Verbindungsstaffel 14 at Strausberg with Let L-410
- TS 24 at Dresden with An-26

Already in 1993 the Wing was disbanded. The Tu-154 M, the Il-62 M, some Mil Mi-8 and the Let L-410 were integrated into the Flugbereitschaft BMVg.
All other aircrafts like the An-26 and the Mil Mi-2 were scrapped or sold.

Only one An-26, which has a special installment to test the Navigationsystems of the Airbases where the Mig-29 was based, stayed in inventory. For some time this aircraft flew with the JaboG 32 at Lechfeld AFB.
